Intuitive tools for a happy healthy home

Shake your sillies out! The song by Raffi was one of my kids favourite songs. We danced and shook until they were a ball of giggles. This weeks hint reminded me of this song and now I know why it was so popular.

Our kids are out in the world of school and friends all day. During this time they are absorbing energy from their environment and this includes upsets, fear and anger as well as love. Like walking through the laundry room and coming out covered in static socks we hang on to other people’s energy and the energy of circumstances around us.

If your kids are arriving home after being out and they are grumpy or anxious, maybe upset or feeling overcharged try this trick to let go of the extra energy that is not theirs and any extra that they may have produced throughout the day.

Jumping and stomping! Yup, before they or you, enter the house have everyone stomp outside to disperse the extra energy ad leave it outside the comfort of your home. Pick a spot away from the main entrance and simply stomp and jump. Hold the intention that all the extra energy is being left, just like the mud and snow, behind for Mother Earth to recycle. Energy cannot be destroyed it is simply transformed into a new vibration.

Kids love this! Tell them what they are doing, trust me they understand better than most adults. Let them know that any energy they picked up today from their friends, teachers, or classmates is being left outside. They can even think about times they know they picked it up, maybe the child sitting next to them in class was upset this morning, or too loud, or angry. Explain that the energy isn’t theirs to carry around for their friend, and it is much lighter to leave it outside.

Then everyone can enter the house with their own energy and create a sanctuary for the family.

Interesting note: the grass tends to die in the spot you pick to stomp so choose an area that is protected but does not require the aesthetic of grass. Gravel is great.

This is also a great exercise when anyone is upset, have them go out to the ‘stomping ground’ to release the extra energy flowing through them in a moment of fear or anger. It is unreasonable to expect a child to keep extra emotional energy bottled up, besides being very unhealthy. Let them express it and get it out for recycling.
